The Piers Simon Appeal is excited to launch their first ever charity trek challenge tackling the iconic 3 Peaks in 3 Days during May 2012.
The trip from Thursday May 17th to Sunday May 20th will see trekkers’ summit the three highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis 1344m), England (Scafell Pike 978m) and Wales (Mount Snowdon 1057m) whilst getting sponsored to raise funds. Following a day’s drive up to Scotland, the participants will climb a mountain a day during the charity trek which has the strap line ‘Summit for the Weekend?”
The challenge, inspired by PSA supporter Binny Bennett who has always wanted to climb the 3 summits said, “I also want to use the trip as a recce for doing the 3 Peaks in 24 hours in a following year”.
Limited to 18 trekkers, a place on the 3 Peaks Challenge is secured by a registration payment of £50. Participants then have 2 sponsorship options for signing up to the 3 Peaks Challenge:
1: A Total Sponsorship package – where money raised through sponsorship pays for the expenses and makes a donation to the PSA. Total Sponsorship: £750
2: A Personal Expenses/Sponsorship package – expenses for the trip are paid for by the participant and sponsorship makes up the minimum donation to the PSA. Minimum Sponsorship: £200. Approximate Personal Expenses £200
Organiser Luke Simon, from the Piers Simon Appeal said “The challenge will follow a similar format to our charity cycle challenges where keeping the expenses to a minimum whilst maintaining comfort is paramount. The Youth Hostels provide the perfect environment to help the group camaraderie to blossom – the kitchen allows us to cook cheap giant dinners each night getting everyone involved and after, their living rooms offer us the opportunity to meet, brief and finally relax!”
Entry for the 3 Peaks Challenge will close on February 1st – however, the PSA strongly encourage anyone interested to sign up well in advance – places on the challenge have already been filled!
