Charity Liaison Officer, Luke Simon says “I believe the TOI has a lot to offer: Famous Irish cities including Dublin on the Saturday night, the stunning Ring Of Kerry and west coast Ireland scenery and of course Irish people a plenty with their wonderful sociable manner and ability to make it last long into the night! Besides this, our charity cycle challenges are great value and run in a way to keep the expenses for the participants to an absolute minimum. Overnight accommodation is in Youth Hostels which are great value, comfortable, very sociable and allow us to cater for our riders”.
Participants who sign up to TOI have a choice of sponsorship options once a registration fee of £60 has been paid. The Total Sponsorship package involves riders raising £1000 and money raised through sponsorship pays for the trip expenses and makes a donation to the PSA. The second option is the Personal Expenses/Sponsorship package where the riders pay for the trip expenses personally and must fundraise a minimum amount of £350.
Thus far, 12 people have signed up to ride or support the trip and the PSA hope to cap TOI to 20 participants. William Glover from Chilthorne Domer who cycled in the 2010 John O Groats to Lands End (JOGLE) and 2011 Chilthorne Domer – Paris (CD-P) PSA charity cycle challenges says, “I have signed up for the TOI because I love the camaraderie that develops between the group as the rides progress. The PSA charity cycle challenges have a wonderful double meaning in that participants are not only united by the challenge to conquer the event they are also bound together through supporting the PSA cause”
